SBE Certification News

Four Local Members Pass Exams

Linda Godby, SBE Certification Director, announced that four San Diego chapter members had passed their exams in November.

Mike Tosch, Chief Engineer of KPBS, passed the Senior Radio and Senior Television Engineer exams taken over two evenings. Gary Stigall, Staff Engineer at KFMB-TV, passed the Senior Television Engineer exam. Mike Curran passed the Audio and Video Engineer exams. And Jason "Jake" Zabler, KPBS-TV Master Control Supervisor, passed the Broadcast Technologist exam.

The exams were administered by Oscar Medina of KNSD, CSTE, Certification Committee Chair of Chapter 36, and assisted by John Barcroft of Jacor Communications, CPBE, past Certification Chair.

The next certification exams, scheduled for mid-February, must be applied for by December 31. This is a new time, added by SBE last year to provide more test opportunities per year. Another exam will be administered at the NAB Convention in Las Vegas in April 1999.
